Story
It began with an experience
Sometimes a single moment changes everything. Ansel’s doctor had already advised him to have surgery. But Hans Zurfluh, Medina’s father and himself a massage therapist, saw the problem differently. With experience, patience and his hands, he resolved what had previously seemed possible only through an operation. No coincidence: called him the best-loved masseur in Swiss sport, and Olympians and top Swiss wrestlers swore by his hands.
Medina had known those hands since she was a child. She was always fascinated by the way her father worked. For Ansel, that moment became a question that still guides them both today: What might be possible if you did not only treat what hurts, but understood why?
Many treatments mainly ease symptoms. We are interested in something else: the origin. The connections. The moment when a problem truly resolves.
In 2005, their own path began: Ansel and Medina trained and learned from Hans what set him apart. In 2007, they opened their first practice on Karstlernstrasse in Zurich-Altstetten: first two rooms, later four, when the larger space across the hall became free. Since 2018, the practice has been at home on Hohlstrasse. What began small has grown over the years. Not through advertising, but through recommendations; in 2011, called it one of Zurich’s most popular sports massage studios. People come to Onuā because someone has told them: “They finally helped me there.”
After more than 21 years, it is still the same moment that drives us. When someone says: “I had this problem for years. And now it’s gone.”
Philosophy
Causes, not symptoms.
The body is always speaking to us. Sometimes quietly, sometimes clearly. Tension, pain, restrictions. They are rarely the real problem. They are signs.
That is why our work does not begin where it hurts, but where the body’s story can be understood. We listen, observe and feel our way forward step by step. Standard treatments do not interest us. Every person brings a different story. And that is exactly where every treatment at Onuā begins.
If the client can tolerate it, I go directly to the cause. To the real problem.

A place of renewal.
In Zurich-Altstetten since 2007, on Hohlstrasse since 2018. A calm place that has grown over the years without changing its attitude. No big marketing, no loud promises. Only experience, attention and hands that know what they are doing.
For us, quality does not stop at the treatment. It begins with the atmosphere that welcomes you, the treatment table you lie on, the oil on your skin. Every detail is chosen with care, right down to booking, which takes just a few clicks. Because what you feel before the treatment begins matters just as much as the treatment itself.
Just as important are the hands that treat you. Everyone here learns our own approach, so you get the same care from every therapist.
